Mark Thompson

Mark R. Thompson is a Retired Captain from the Barnstable County Sheriff’s Office having served over 22 years in the field of Corrections. In 1995 Mr. Thompson opened the first County Corrections SHOCK program in Massachusetts, a military based Residential Substance Abuse Treatment Program (RSAT) that has been nationally recognized for its achievements. During his tenure Captain Thompson served as a Certified Drill Instructor, member of the Tactical Response Team, Field Training Officer, Inmate Disciplinary Officer and as a Liaison for Classification with the Bridgewater State Boot Camp. Throughout his career he worked closely with Human Services personnel to administer substance abuse treatment programs at the Barnstable County Correctional Facility and has served as a Guest Speaker at the American Correctional Association Annual Conference. Mr. Thompson was an instructor in Diversity Awareness Training for corrections staff, and also volunteered his time at a Domestic Violence Shelter and as a Shriner raising money for the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital and Charities.
