Bartholomew County RSAT program

The Bartholomew County RSAT program, located in Columbus, Indiana, exemplifies model, evidence-based treatment and re-entry programming for female offenders. It utilizes assessment tools and treatment approaches created especially for women, comprehensive wraparound residential treatment, transition planning and aftercare, and the utilization of four evidence-based treatment models.  Nationally recognized treatment approaches such as Seeking Safety, Moving On, and The Change Companies: Residential Drug Abuse Program (RDAP) Interactive Journals are utilized.  The program begins with inmates in the jail and continues in the community, providing a continuity of care and treatment to prevent both relapse and recidivism.  Beginning in jail, offenders are treated with respect and dignity, providing an environment that is supportive, empathic, accepting, collaborative, and yet challenging.   After completing 4-6 months, inmates step down to aftercare services including day reporting with Community Corrections/intensive case management; there, sober support, housing, family counseling, child care, and vocational /education services and support are continued.
