Janelle Prueter, M.S.

Janelle Prueter oversees Treatment Alternatives for Safe Communities' (TASC) services for more than 5,000 individuals in Illinois each year who are incarcerated or are returning to their communities following incarceration. Working in partnership with the Illinois Department of Corrections (IDOC), the Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice (IDJJ), and community-based service providers across the state, Ms. Prueter develops and implements plans and programs that help formerly-incarcerated individuals successfully reintegrate into society.

Since joining TASC in 1987, Ms. Prueter has been instrumental in designing and managing programs that help individuals transition from their involvement in child welfare and corrections systems to health and self-sufficiency in the community.

In partnership with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, Ms. Prueter developed and implemented TASC’s Recovery Coach program, which works with substance-abusing parents whose children are in foster care. In collaboration with IDOC, Ms. Prueter plays a key role in shaping prison reentry programs that have successfully reduced recidivism rates in Illinois.
